A WIP 2025 #16: May 1 - May 7

I feel like I'm finally getting back into the crafting swing of things again! With the weather being so nice I have been splitting my time between outdoor projects and cosplay projects. Also, did anyone else catch the Met Gala and all of the GORGEOUS designs? I feel like this was a very good year for the event.

Back to crafting, what was I up to?

  • Performing

  • Fixing my pergola cover

  • Setting up an herb garden

  • FEARNE!

  • Streaming set up??

Performing: Every year I help out with a little renaissance festival called Ren in the Glen in their Fairy court and Dryad quest. Part of our advertising for the festival is for the fairy court to perform at one or two dance shows, this also doubles as a dress rehearsal for the cast members performing the dance at the festival. I typically do not wear my dryad outfit for this performance, but I did put together they very cute fairy outfit for it! The show went really well, and it made me miss dancing in a troupe a little bit.

Pergola: I began the process of fixing my pergola cover this weekend. I was able to adjust the size of the top level cover so it is more secure. This also gave me some extra material that I can use to repair the damage to the lower cover, caused by a couple of the storms we had last year. With the weather being so warm and nice this week, I plan to wash the lower cover with the hose, let it dry, then begin the repairs. I'm considering adding a zipper to this cover to make it easier to remove, OR maybe 2 zippers so that when the next storm hits I can open the cover to prevent more wind damage.

Herb Garden: One of my goals for my yard this year is to make it more inviting for me to be in. I also want to grow more of my food. While sitting outside for dinner this weekend, Z and I remembered how nice our side patio is to sit in, and made some plans to spruce it up even more. I did a good long Pinterest scroll and got a couple of ideas for how I could pull together an herb garden using only things we had in our garage. I just wrote a separate blog post on this because it was getting to be too long for this weekly update! Keep an eye out for that.

Fearne: I'm back to working on Fearne again! I really want her to be wearable for my upcoming summer cons. This week I focused on the flower and leaf embellishments for the bodice. I want it to be detachable so the dress can be a little more modular, so I rigged up a braided harness type thing for the base. It goes over one shoulder and has a snap that keeps it connected in the front. The back will be held down by my cape. I also began planning out and attaching the flowers and leaves. I disassembled a few faux flowers and reassembled them to look like the reference image. Those I attached to a thick piece of scrap fabric and sewed it to the bodice. I am still playing with leaf placement, so those will get attached next. Likely this upcoming week.

Streaming: What? Streaming? I used to do a crafting stream on twitch a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it! At the time I was not able to keep up with the streaming schedule, however… I'm getting the itch to stream again. It's going to be gaming streams this time, although if there is enough interest for a craft stream I would consider adding one.

My plan is to make these streams similar to my Poké-Biology panel, where I get to just stream of conscious animal facts while playing games like Pokémon, or other cozy games with animals. If that's something that interests you, I'll have details very soon for when I'm going to get started! I will also be uploading VODS (videos of the streams) to youtube, so they can be watched there as well. More info on that to come soon! See you next week <3
